HAVE YOU EVER SEEN TOKAT?

In minds of those who have’nt seen Tokat yet characterized yellow, hot, boring city in the middle of steppe. Tokat, having a fairly balanced climate, is neither too rainy and humid like the Black Sea coasts nor as dry as the Central Anatolia, neither too cold nor too hot.

There are three fertile lowlands where Yeşilırmak’s three streams cross. Kelkit stream waters Kelkit Plain, Tozanlı stream waters Kazova, Çekerek stream waters Artova with an altitude of 1000. North of Tokat’s climate, flora, village architecture and  people are similar to Black Sea region. South of Tokat’s climate, flora and people are the same as Middle Anatolia.  Besides the presence of all kinds of plant species of Anatolia  without Mediterranean plants these different altitude plains have endemic species. Fourth of the 12 most important gene centers in the World are in Turkey, two of them are in Tokat.

Now, you are in the hearth of a rare geography located in the middle of fertile fields consisting of the passageways between wide and wet valleys where 14 states and many principalities lived and dominated.

You breathe the air of a land which different cultures continue to live to the present day without conflict and noisless. As Evliya Çelebi mentioned in his Travelogue “Waters flows in the gardens and orchards on all sied of this pleasant air city. Every vineyard includes a pavilion, pool, fountains and various fruits. The people cares for pleasure. They are friendly to people in need, not hold grudges, not cheat, sweet-natured. Mosques, palaces, pavilions and alms houses are so solid and beautiful that intruders admire.Cami, saray, köşk ve imaretleri o kadar sağlam ve güzel olur ki buralara girenler hayran olurlar. There is formers scholars’ mansion, virtuous people’s dormitories and  places of poets with Hacı Bektaş-ı Veli’s auspicius and abundant prayer.”

Tokat is an important center before the arrival of Turks in Anatolia. This unique city, which has been inhabited by many civilizations with its six thousand years of history, has outstanding characteristics in terms of culture and nature tourism with its historical and cultural richness, environmental attractiveness and natural assets, rich cuisine and handicrafts based on root centuries.

The most typical and powerful form of Tokat, Niksar, Zile and Turhal, which started with the establishment of many of the cities of the Great Hittite State, along the valleys of Kelkit, Tozanlı and Çekerek branches of Yeşilırmak; .

Again with the political advantages of Tokat, Danişmend and Seljuk Turks under the domination of Roman and Byzantine for a long time, he met with Turkish-Islamic culture from Maveraünnehir. It has been under Turkish sovereignty for 900 years. Tokat lived in many historical events in this historical process. The only castle that Timur cannot conquer in the occupation of Great Anatolia is Tokat Castle. So it is the head of the fortress, which is not subservient to the occupation. Again, as the name of Vlad Tepes, the ruler of Wallachia, and his cruelty and cruelty caused him to be captured by the person who was known as Vlad the Impaler or Dracula for a while in the castle of Tokat.

Again, this geography is the geography of the famous Roman Emperor Caesar, who has passed through history, VENI, VIDI, VECI (I came, I saw, I am). Niksar is the first place where water was used for industrial purposes beyond water, irrigation and household consumption before the Romans. Niksar is the first industrial capital. The first vertical national mills were moved to Rome, where Anatolia first met the industry, the first Turkish madrasa of Anatolia, where the first Turkish capitals Niksar on the historical Silk Road, which is located in the Ballıca Cave with the market, castle, cultural Turhal with its richness, Almus and Başçiftlik with its natural beauties is a rich geography with a significant identity that hosts Reşadiye, the ancient city Sulusaray, with its cultural depth and thermal resources. Also opened to visit 8 rooms, 680 M. Long and 95 m. Ballıca Cave is one of the largest and most magnificent caves in the world. This natural wonder continues to maintain its mystery with its unexplored and undiscovered sections.

Watching the formations in the Ballıca Cave and visiting a natural museum. In addition to having all the cave formations that are determined as 3.4 million years of age, it also has international importance with its original onion stalactites.

The 8-kilometer road that reaches the Ballıca Cave from Pazar district passes by a Seljuk bridge connected to the King Road. The Mahperi Sultan Caravanserai, which was built in 1238 and started restoration work in 2006, is also on the cave road.

Mevlâm says sonra we need to go to Tokat ”for the city where many historical names have fallen and then adds; ’Because the climate and people in Tokat is mutedil’ invites you to Tokat.

Has a cultural and social value, while preserving the historical heritage and texture of our slaps.
